DupeFree Pro V.1.1.2 Released - New Features & Bug Fixes
DupeFree Pro Version 1.1.2 is now ready!
This upgrade adds the following new features and bug fixes:
Â
NEW FEATURES:
1) DupeFree Pro now remembers your previous settings and no longer reverts to the defaults at startup.
2) New emotion icons appear next to the keyword density percentage & the article similarity percentage enabling a user to instantly see if there percentage is good or not.
3) *MAJOR UPGRADE* - A new ‘LSI’ button provides automated LSI Keyword research, density percentages & counts.
LSI is short for ‘Latent Semantic Indexing’ which is the latest Search Engine algorithm technology. To further understand this algorithm and how DupeFree Pro can help you take advantage of it, check out the new help section titled ‘LSI Relevance Density’ - simply click on ‘Getting Started’ in the DupeFree Pro Help menu.
Â
BUG FIXES:
1) Unable to minimise DupeFree Pro to the Windows start bar.
Minimise was present in the original but got lost when converting to the public version. Now it is back for good. I know how much of pain not having minimise is.
2) If Microsoft Word is not installed on the PC DupeFree Pro crashes when importing .doc or .rtf files.
DupeFree Pro no longer crashes and an alert is displayed stating MS Word is required to open .doc and .rft files. (We are looking in to ways to open these file types without MS Word installed on the PC).
3) Importing txt files removes any line breaks or carriage returns. All text is made in to one big block of text.
Line breaks and carriage returns are now successfully maintained for txt file imports.
4) Keyword density percentage is case sensitive.
This causes potentially inaccurate density percentages. Now fixed to ignore case.
5) Pipe characters appearing (|) in text when documents get converted during highlight modes.
Importing Word documents (*.doc) can bring in certain MS Word specific characters that are not present in the font that DupeFree Pro converts the text to when performing certain calculations. Theses characters were lost and converted to pipe characters (|). Now DupeFree Pro converts them back to their original characters so they are not lost.

Thanks for the bug fixes and new improvements. They definitely make the product better.
I do have one more request: when words are highlighted in color, it’s hard to edit them sometimes (sometimes the cursor “jumps out” of the color block when you try to edit the words within).
It’s annoying to have to remove the color formatting to edit things, then hit “Compare” again to see what needs to be changed, over and over, etc.
Thanks guys, keep up the great work!

Hi Jason,
Thanks for the comments.
I know what you mean regards clicking on highlighted sections of text.
The reason DupeFree Pro ‘jumps about’ is because it’s programmed so that if you click on a highlighted text section the corresponding highlighted text section in the other window will be centralised. The idea is that it makes it easier to locate the matching duplicate text in the other article.
This is handy when dealing with very large content sizes but to be honest for most of our SEO needs we are usually only working with 350 to 600 word articles and so this ‘click-to-locate’ feature is not really necessary.
We’ll add your request to the feature/bug list.
We could add a checkbox which turns the clickable highlights on and off.
If anyone else has any ideas/comments please do post them. Collectively we can make DupeFree Pro better and better!
Cheers,
Mike

Wow you guys are really responsive. I think if you narrow down the bugs, this is seriously the best dupe checker on the market. I tried out that ContentComposer dupe checker, and to be honest, it’s pretty crappy. Just an honest review.
Anyway, the only other bug I can think of is that Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V (copy/paste) doesn’t always work in the “keyword phrase” textbox. Seems to be intermittent.
Thanks

Hi Jason,
Thanks for the kind words.
Jason Potash’s Dupe checker is very similar to most of the other tools available. In terms of functionality it goes a bit further than most but not really by much.
DupeFree Pro will always be free and will evolve according to SEO trends and user feedback.
The bug that you’ve found with the copy/paste function has already been noted, but thanks for mentioning it. It’s a little tricky to fix because it is related to the way the software imports documents. The program occasionally needs to use the system clipboard itself and so clears it afterwards.
This is something we have on the fix-list and will get our programmer to sort out at some point.
At the moment we are collating a list of fixes and possible upgrades and will do a bulk upgrade sometime again soon.
Thanks,
Mike
