Calculating Keyword Density
Calculating keyword density is very easy with DupeFree Pro and you even get a few extra bits of information to boot.
Below each window pane and their immediate controls beneath you will see the following keyword control set:

To calculate the density percentage for a particular keyword phrase simply enter your phrase in to the text entry box next to 'Keyword Phrase:' and then click the 'Calculate Keyword Density' button just below.
The software will then output the density percentage in the gray box with a percentage sign '%'next to it and in the other gray box next to the 'No.' label the software will output the keyword count. This keyword count is the number of times the keyword phrase was found in the text.
To help even further every instance of the keyword phrase found in the article is highlighted in yellow, this provides you with an at-a-glance view of the keyword phrase distribution through the text.
An example output of these keyword phrase functions is shown below:

Keyword density percentage and distribution is always up to debate but I tend to aim for densities of between 1.5-6% and try to get a good spread throughout the article whilst making sure the keyword phrase appears near the start and end of an article. Also remember not to keep aiming for the exact same densities all the time, be sure to mix it up a bit as you go. This will put you in a better position for search engine algorithm changes.
To help keep you on track DupeFree Pro displays a small emotion icon next to the keyword density percentage. This smiley will change from happy to sad depending on the keyword density percentage. The following are the set parameters for the smiley emotions:
| Keyword Density | Smiley Emotion |
| Less than 1.5% | |
| Between 1.5% and 3% | |
| Between 3% and 6.5% | |
| More than 6.5% |
The 'LSI' button, found to the right of the keyword phrase input box, is used to calculate article relevance densities based on "search engine determined" synonyms. This button requires a more in depth explanation which can be found here within this help section.
This concludes how to use the keyword density section of DupeFree Pro. However, there is one more thing I feel I should make clear and that is the calculation method DupeFree Pro uses to calculate the keyword phrase density percentage.
In the Internet Marketing community I have come across two main methods by which keyword density is calculated. One method ignores the size of the keyword phrase, and by size I mean the number of words that makes up the phrase (i.e. the size of the keyword phrase "dog training guide" is 3). The other takes in to consideration the size of the keyword phrase. DupeFree Pro uses the latter, the calculation that considers the size of the phrase. The reason I have opted for this method is that I believe it provides a truer percentage of the occupation by the keyword phrase in a text's body.
To help make things clearer I have provided the two calculation methods below for you:
Method One: Ignore Keyword Phrase Size
( Number of keyword instances / Total article word count ) x 100 = Keyword Density Percentage
Method Two: Consider Keyword Phrase Size (DupeFree Pro's method)
( ( Keyword Phrase Word Size x Number of keyword instances ) / Total article word count ) x 100 = Keyword Density Percentage
