Importing Your Articles

There are multiple ways to get your articles in to DupeFree Pro for analyzing.

The First method is the 'Import' button...

There are two import buttons which are located immediately under each window pane.

Each import button is associated with the window pane above it. Clicking one of the import buttons will open a file browse dialogue box enabling you to find a file you wish to import. After locating and selecting a file of your choice the text contained within the file will be displayed in the associated window pane for that import button. This is shown below...

The file formats supported by DupeFree Pro are:

Microsoft Word (*.doc - Note: Microsoft Word must be present on the PC to open this format)
Rich Text Format (*.rtf - Note: Microsoft Word must be present on the PC to open this format)
Text File (*.txt)
Other file types may work but only the above have been tested.

The second method of getting your articles in to DupeFree Pro is with standard Copy, Cut and Paste functionality.

You can highlight text from another application, click 'Copy' or 'Cut' in that application and then place the mouse cursor in one of the window panes in DupeFree Pro and paste the copied text in to the window pane. You can also do this the other way around and copy or cut text from within the DupeFree Pro window panes and paste the text in to another application.

There are three methods by which you can use the copy, cut and paste functionality in DupeFree Pro...

1 - Using the windows shortcut keys: 'Ctrl-X' for Cut, 'Ctrl-C' for Copy and 'Ctrl-V' for Paste.

2 - Right-click in one of the windows panes to show a mini-menu containing all of the options Cut, Copy and Paste. You also have 'Select All' for a convenient way to select all the text in a window pane at once. This mini-menu is shown below:

3 - You can also access Copy, Cut and Paste controls via the 'Edit' menu at the top of DupeFree Pro in the main menu area. The 'Edit' menu also has the 'Select All' function as shown below...

A few things to note about importing articles in to DupeFree Pro:

All text formatting is retained when importing an article either by copy and paste or via the import button. However, after functions are performed on any text in the window panes the formatting is removed and the text is simplified. This is to ensure a more accurate result for functions such as keyword density and duplicate content matching.
Whilst Microsoft Word documents are supported via the Import button you do need to have Microsoft Word installed on your computer in order for this to function.
Importing Word documents can be a little slow sometimes and so I personally prefer to have the articles open in Word itself and then I simply copy and paste them over. This way if I want to edit an article in between analyzing I can do so with the advanced editing functionality available in Microsoft Word and then copy and paste the article back in to DupeFree Pro for re-analyzing.
